Fast Fashion is Killing Our Planet

The importance of this topic is engaging in not leaving a negative mark on the future in how the high costs of Fast fashion are really damaging our future. The particular images in my poster each represent and feature a visualization of what respecting the earth can do for us all in the long run. My poster gives an insight into how contributing to Slow fashion can encourage others to take different actions which will benefit the global economy and environment in the long run.

For this social action, I think the issue I can encourage others in my poster is to act fair and wear a piece of clothing that protects the environment which is eco-friendly, second hand, or refurbished clothing. My main goal is leaning my audience towards forgetting Fast Fashion which is a negative issue and learning how to change your attitudes towards clothes shopping. I want to present a positive attitude and appropriate manner in the slow fashion movement towards the future.

While fast fashion is a cheap, inexpensive way to buy more clothes, the aftermath is disastrous to the planet by the continuous patterns of landfills of textile and second-hand clothing waste piling up day by day. The main role in why my audience should care is to encourage them to have a more appropriate manner of disposing of their clothing. This is necessary because our lives are becoming increasingly at risk in the future. There are more environmental hazards as well as health from toxins in clothing that end up in water streams. Fast fashion is not a good idea and is harmful and disastrous to the environmental outcome.

I specifically chose to use flowers in my poster to symbolize the importance of reproduction from life to death. The beauty of the flowers reflects their fragility, this is a reason to protect and respect how valuable the environment is. Understanding the huge role of how rethinking your wardrobe can work on ways to impact the environment and keep its reproduction going in the long run.

The translation of my poster supports widespread importance in encouraging ethical consumption and eco-friendly, lasting fashion which has an overall effective solution in not causing a danger to environments internationally.

The flame plays a small role in destroying the word Fast, resonating with the ‘Fast Fashion’ industry which needs to come to an end. I used keywords such as ‘Repair, Recycle, Refurbish, Rethink your wardrobe, Reduce to expand attention on how mending your pieces of clothing or refurbishing them can save the global economy from harmful materials. The hanger holding up the earth in the trousers creates a message to consumers that our appearance and clothes participate in how the earth is still hanging up. This message identifies taking small responsibilities in the pieces of clothing you wear can impact the strength of the planet.

The main impact I want is for consumers to leave with an idea of hope that our fragile earth will be hanging by the right consumption of clothing and know that self-control in our small daily actions getting ready every day or consumption can portray large cooperation in respecting the planet and protecting our lives.
